About XERF Skin Tightening

XERF™ is an advanced, needle-free skin tightening treatment using multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency to target skin laxity and loss of definition across the face and neck.

By delivering controlled RF energy at different depths beneath the skin, XERF encourages collagen remodelling to gradually improve firmness, tighten lax skin and create more defined facial contours — without surgery, needles or significant downtime.

At Beau Clinic, XERF joins Sofwave™ and Morpheus8 as part of our advanced skin-tightening portfolio, allowing us to recommend the technology best suited to your skin, concerns and treatment goals.

What is XERF?

XERF is a new-generation radiofrequency treatment developed by Cynosure Lutronic. It combines two radiofrequency frequencies — 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz — with shallow, middle and deep treatment settings, allowing energy to be delivered at different depths according to the area being treated and your individual needs.

The controlled heat created within the targeted tissue stimulates a natural response within the skin, encouraging collagen remodelling and helping to improve the appearance of laxity, firmness and definition over time.

What can XERF help with?

XERF is particularly suited to people beginning to notice changes such as a softer jawline, early jowling, reduced facial definition or looser skin around the face and neck.

Treatment can be tailored to address concerns including:

• Skin laxity and loss of firmness
• Jowls and a less defined jawline
• Lower-face laxity
• Loose skin around the neck
• Fine lines and wrinkles
• Changes associated with ageing skin

A different approach to skin tightening

One of the things we find particularly exciting about XERF is that it gives us another way to treat skin laxity without needles or surgery.

The system combines controlled radiofrequency energy with integrated cooling technology to help keep the surface of the skin comfortable during treatment. No numbing cream is routinely required, and there is minimal disruption to your day afterwards.

Results are designed to develop gradually as collagen remodelling takes place, creating an improvement that looks natural rather than dramatically changing your appearance.

Which skin-tightening treatment is right for me?

XERF isn’t intended to replace every other skin-tightening treatment — and we don’t believe that the newest machine is automatically the right machine for everybody.

Beau Clinic also offers Sofwave and Morpheus8, which use different technologies and can be better suited to different concerns.

During your consultation, we’ll assess your skin, facial anatomy and what you’d actually like to improve before recommending the treatment we believe is most appropriate for you.

You don’t need to know whether you need XERF, Sofwave or Morpheus8 before you come to see us.

That’s our job.

XERF Frequently Asked Questions

What is XERF skin tightening?

XERF™ is a non-surgical skin tightening treatment that uses multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency energy to heat targeted layers beneath the skin. This controlled heating encourages collagen remodelling, helping to improve firmness, laxity and definition across areas such as the face, jawline and neck.

How does XERF work?

XERF combines two radiofrequency frequencies — 6.78 MHz and 2 MHz — with three depth settings. This allows treatment to be tailored to different areas and tissue depths while integrated cooling helps protect the surface of the skin and maintain comfort.

The resulting controlled heat stimulates the skin’s natural collagen-remodelling response, with improvements developing gradually following treatment.

What areas can XERF treat?

XERF can be used across the face and neck and is particularly useful for concerns such as skin laxity, early jowling, a softening jawline and loss of facial definition.

Your treatment areas will be assessed during consultation so that we can create a plan appropriate for your individual concerns and anatomy.

Does XERF hurt and will I need numbing cream?

XERF has been designed with patient comfort in mind and does not routinely require numbing cream or anaesthetic.

The treatment uses integrated cooling alongside controlled radiofrequency energy. You can expect to feel warmth during treatment, although individual sensitivity varies and we will adjust your treatment appropriately.

Is there any downtime after XERF?

XERF is a non-invasive treatment with minimal to no downtime for most people. The skin may appear slightly flushed or feel warm immediately afterwards, but this is generally temporary.

One of XERF’s advantages is that treatment can usually fit easily around everyday life without the recovery associated with more invasive procedures.

When will I see results from XERF?

XERF isn’t designed to produce an artificial overnight change. Results develop progressively as the skin responds to treatment and collagen remodelling takes place.

You may begin to notice improvements in firmness and definition in the weeks following treatment, with changes continuing to develop over the following months. Results and timelines vary between individuals.

How many XERF treatments will I need?

There isn’t a single treatment plan that’s right for everybody. The number and frequency of treatments will depend on factors including your skin, degree of laxity, treatment area and the result you would like to achieve.

Following consultation, we will recommend a personalised XERF treatment plan for you.

How long do XERF results last?

XERF works by encouraging collagen remodelling rather than creating a temporary cosmetic effect. How long you enjoy the results will vary according to factors including your age, skin condition, lifestyle and natural ageing process.

During consultation we can discuss realistic expectations and whether maintenance treatments may be beneficial for you.

What is the difference between XERF, Sofwave and Morpheus8?

All three treatments available at Beau Clinic can be used to address aspects of skin laxity and ageing, but they work in different ways.

XERF uses multifrequency monopolar radiofrequency and is completely needle-free. Sofwave uses ultrasound energy to stimulate collagen at a controlled depth within the skin. Morpheus8 combines microneedling with radiofrequency energy and is a more invasive treatment that creates controlled micro-injuries through needles.

Rather than regarding one technology as universally “better” than another, we assess your skin, concerns and goals and recommend the treatment we believe is most appropriate for you.

Am I suitable for XERF?

XERF may be suitable if you are concerned about mild to moderate skin laxity, reduced firmness, early jowling or loss of definition and would prefer a non-surgical, needle-free treatment.

Suitability is always assessed individually. Your consultation gives us an opportunity to discuss your medical history, examine the area you would like treated and determine whether XERF, or another treatment available at Beau Clinic, is the most appropriate option.

Can XERF replace a facelift?

No non-surgical treatment can reproduce the results of surgery, and we think it’s important to be realistic about that.

XERF is intended for people seeking a non-surgical improvement in skin firmness, laxity and definition without the recovery associated with surgery. For more significant skin laxity, surgical treatment may ultimately provide a greater degree of correction.

Where can I have XERF treatment in Kent?

XERF skin tightening is available at Beau Clinic near Ashford, Kent. Our consultations are designed to determine which of our advanced skin-tightening treatments is most appropriate for your individual concerns rather than simply recommending one particular technology.

You don’t need to decide whether you need XERF, Sofwave or Morpheus8 before booking your consultation – that’s our job.
